Finding the facts that matter.
The datasheet gives pinout, electrical limits and package. The reference manual explains each peripheral and register. Start with the absolute maximum ratings, so you never exceed them.
Look up alternate pin functions, the clock tree, and any errata, which lists known silicon faults and workarounds.
